music and its influence on productivity

today I want to reflect shortly on the ways that different music has the ability to produce its own unique flow states. I'll talk about the genres and palettes that have given me motivation and inspiration. I'll even link my current spotify art mix! when i need inspiration, i usually tend to start by putting on music. not just out of habit, but because putting on music tends to influence my mood and productivity. depending on the person, any number of genres could spark creativity. lately, i’ve been really into putting on house music and techno while i work, which is a total switch up for me! the reasons i’ve been listening to it so much are the upbeat rhythms and minimal lyrics. it doesn’t entirely distract me from what i’m making, but keeps me stimulated enough throughout the process that i can concentrate.

in the past, i’ve used lofi hip hop, mario kart music, indie, and alt rock to work as well, all with their own uses. each of them puts me in a different mood, so now that i have so many choices of what to listen to, i also have the choice of what kind of motivation and inspiration i need from my music for a project. i used lofi hip hop and mario kart music to write papers for instance. i use house music to paint and do business work. i recommend finding the genres that work for you whether they are upbeat, relaxing, etc! here's my current art playlist to inspire you! https://spotify.link/WZuPYlMAODb
