a trip to risd

howdy pals! i wanted to make an account of my trip to visit fellow artist andy guevara in providence. he studies jewelry and metalsmithing at rhode island school of design, so i got to spend a lot of time on and around their campus, making art, making memories, and having loads of fun getting out of the apartment.

i got picked up from amherst and went to my mom's house in the blackstone valley for a night before we headed to providence, so obviously i spent time with good ole mr. handsome pebbles. he was pretty happy to see me too :)

that next morning, me and him snuggled a lot, then my mom and i picked up some muffins at my favorite breakfast place back home, and we were off! it's about 30 minutes from my mom's to risd, and we arrived midday. andy and my mom got to meet for the first time and they immediately bonded over music, which was no surprise because they both have superb music taste.

i usually take a bit to get used to new environments, so the first day was pretty relaxed. we did some walking around, i got a tour of some of the buildings at the school, and i started writing some of the poems i put in my latest blog.

one of my favorite places we went to was a cafe called carr haus, which we went to a few times. it has a really cute vibe, they play good music, and the food and drinks i got there were great!

but besides that, we spent a good bit of time just walking and enjoying some of the quieter parts of providence. i enjoyed soaking in a lot of the views and being a little bit goofy as per usual.

overall, it was really fun to get out of the apartment and go somewhere out of my comfort zone. i'll definitely go back some time soon because it was really refreshing, and the culture around the art school is super welcoming & open. glad i got to experience rhode island in a new perspective and super grateful to andy for letting me stay with him for the better part of a week!
